Kids have Germs

So I recently learned my lesson about procrastinating. I work with students throughout Humboldt County teaching dental education and working on applying fluoride varnish on students' teeth. As an educator and dental worker working on teeth full of saliva and germs, I told myself it was only logical for me to get the flu shot to avoid getting sick. I said I would my flu shot around last November and never did and ended up getting a little sick close to Christmas time making the holidays a little blue and sad. While I was sick that time I promised myself that as soon as I felt better I would go get the flu shot. I completely procrastinated and last week I got the flu again. This time around I felt worst than I had ever. At one point I had a fever of 102.7 and was barfing all over the place. I felt like I was slowly dying as I learned my lesson about procrastinating. I am now better but already have an appointment to get my flu shot on Monday morning. NO MORE PROCRASTINATING!!!!

  1. Well I'm just checking to see if you followed through with getting that flu shot you had put off. I hope you did as this strand of the flu is very contagious and makes people really sick. In our office there have been many people out sick for lengthy amounts of time. Hope you well soon.

  2. Luis, I am also curious to know if you followed through with getting the flu shot. My husband is a dentist and so like you is always in people's mouths and faces. Of course there is a whole lot of hand washing and precautions taking place, but he still ends up really sick about once a year. He does not get the flu shot as he doesn't believe he needs it. I, on the other hand have raised kids, worked with children in schools, and am a social worker in Child Welfare and so I am exposed to many people and many germs. I have made sure to get the flu shot yearly and have been lucky to not get sick. Do you think the flu shot has anything to do with it? Maybe, we will never know but I think an extra line of defense is worth it, don't you?
